Willem G.A. Bosma's Obituary
Willem G.A. Bosma, MD passed away peacefully on April 3, 2017 in Annapolis, Maryland at the age of 85.Willem is survived by his beloved wife, Brenda and children: Lauren, Jessica, Andrea, and Willem R., and granddaughters, Maya and Bilan. He is also survived by his brother Gerard and sister-in-law Pauline Bosma in Germany, as well as relatives in both the US an the Netherlands. Willem was born on July 2, 1931 in the Netherlands to Andries Bosma and Wilhelmina Moorman. He graduated from Medical School in the Netherlands and came to America in 1960 to complete and internship at Yale University, New Haven. Willem then practiced internal medicine for a short time before deciding to complete a residency in Psychiatry and Neuorology at the Menningers Clinic in Kansas and the University of Maryland Medical School. He began his psychiatric career teaching at the University of Baltimore and then moved to the eastern shore, where he worked in community mental health. Subsequently, he moved to Severna Park, Maryland and worked for the Anne Arundel County Health Department and started a private practice. After closing his private practice, he worked for a number of years for the State of Maryland at Crownsville Hospital Center, and lastly at Spring Grove Hospital Center. He retired at the age of 82. Willem was a dedicated physician and truly loved helping his patients. He was witty, and ever the optimist. He loved to read, travel, and enjoyed creating pottery and sculpture. He also wrote shore stories and poetry. He was well known around town and was frequently seen sitting on his front porch with his dogs, Coco and Mama Chanel at his home in Annapolis. A celebration of life is scheduled at 1:00 p.m. on April 15th, 2017 at Lasting Tributes, 814 Bestgate Road, Annapolis, MD 21401.
