One of the brightest and kind men I have known. Patients loved him. Told me the story of his time at the Menninger Clinic when he worked with Chaplain, Henri Nouwen, a very famous writer in our field. They were both Dutch and enjoyed each other's company.
Thoughts and Prayers
Chaplain Dennis DuPont
I have so many memories of Dr. Bosma. He was always willing to let us try new things on Cottage 14 and took an active role in them, Like the Bell Choir and chorus started by our wonderful music therapist Pam Davies. Dr. Bosma would go around to the units and sing Christmas Carols with the patients, or help decorate the front lawn with Halloween scarecrows or Christmas decorations. His pride and joy was his garden though. I have never seen such tall sunflowers. Fresh salads way into the fall for the patients. He was kind and generous with his time and wisdom. He loved to tell us stories from his life. I miss him and am honored to have worked with him.
Prayers to his family. He was a wonderful man!

Dr. Bosma was an excellent physician who cared for his patients with such kindness and caring. He was a delight to talk to and created a forward thinking forensic program that reduced the use of seclusion and restrainsts and for long periods eliminated the nessesity to use them with innovative interventions and services. The patients on the ward were not gentle fellows and it was a great credit to his leadership of the treatment team and all the team members. Willem was a big supporter of my administration and I will always remember his wonderful personality and our many discussions and personal talks. Prayers to his family and the Crownsville Hospital community.
Ron Hendler, former Superintendent Crownsville Hospital.

I am so sorry for your loss Brenda. I have interviewed over 50 people for the film and he was one of the best. A brilliant man with a brilliant memory who could recall anything. He loved his time at Crownsville Hospital dearly. He will be missed. Let me know if there is anything you need.
