Virginia Lee Roberts Kolb's Obituary
Virginia was born October 10, 1922 in Dinwiddie County, McKenney, Virginia, to Emmit Wilson Roberts and Helen Bruce Lucy Roberts. Virginia was a pre-mature baby who was carried around on a pillow as an infant.
She had one sister, Eleanor Louise Roberts, who passed away on December 29, 2004.
Virginia was raised on a tobacco farm in Brunswick, Virginia, and loved living and working on the farm. As a young woman she moved to Washington, D.C. and worked for the telephone company as a switchboard operator. While in Washington, D.C. she met and married Walter George Kolb, Jr. on October 28, 1950 at LaPlata Methodist Church, in LaPlata, Maryland.
Virginia and Walter lived in Bethesda, Maryland and had three daughters, Carolyn Lee, Susan May, and Mary Katherine Kolb. They had a boat on the Chesapeake Bay and a farm in West Virginia. Virginia loved spending time with her family and they spent their weekends on the boat or at the farm, often with Walter’s parents and brothers and their families. She also took her girls to see her sister, Eleanor and her family in Richmond, Virginia on numerous occasions.
Virginia loved country music, seafood, beer, reading, bird watching, and in her later years living with her daughters and grandchildren.
She is survived by her three girls, Carolyn, Susan, and Mary Katherine, two grandchildren, Stephanie May Best and Christopher William Best, four nieces, and four nephews.
A graveside ceremony will be held at Parklawn Cemetery 12800 Veirs Mill Road Rockville, MD on July 18, 2015 at 1:00 PM.
