Susan Lynn Denis' Obituary
Susan Lynn Denis, a resident of Annapolis for nearly 20 years, died peacefully at home on August 18th following a two year battle with brain cancer. Born on July 14, 1954 in Waukegan, IL,
Susan's independent spirit was evident early-on, forming the first girls' basketball team at her local school. Her hobbies included stamp collecting as well as creating customized notepads using a 100 year old printing press. She attended Northern Illinois University, earning Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Business Administration. An entrepreneur at heart, Susan created and ran several successful businesses, including two computer graphics companies in Northbrook, IL, the Eastport House Bed & Breakfast, and Capital City Colonials where she provided walking, Segway, and food tours around historic Annapolis. Her other loves included Sunfish sailing, gardening, wheel pottery and (of course) teddy bears. Perhaps her greatest accomplishment was reaching her 60th birthday on July 14, 2014, surrounded by friends and family.
Susan is survived by her father (David Denis of Lincolnshire, IL), sister Bonnie (and Jim) Urban of Annapolis, brother Donald (and Cathy) Denis of San Diego, CA, brother Bruce (and Kim) Denis of Northfield, IL, nieces and nephews (Emily Carey, Kempton Urban, Danielle Denis, and Kyle Denis), longtime friend David L. Smith, and many dear friends in town and across the country
