Shirley Lucille Bassford's Obituary
Shirley Lucille Bassford, a lifelong resident of Annapolis, died peacefully on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 while surrounded by family. Shirley was born on October 30th in Eastport, MD to James P. and Lucy (Jones) Bassford.
Shirley enjoyed playing Bingo, knitting, crafting, doing puzzles, and rooting for the Baltimore Orioles. She loved spending time with her family and friends, and enjoyed hosting get-togethers on the holidays. Shirley was strong and loving, and often seen as the matriarch of her family.
She is survived by her sister, Kitty Hughes of San Diego, CA; her brother James Bassford (Carol) of Arnold, MD; her brother Robert Bassford (Mable) of Raleigh, NC; numerous nieces and nephews, and her many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Dorothy Broiles, Betty Magill, Nancy Shores, Edna Tucker; and her brothers Ohmer Bassford, and Bishop William Donald Bassford.
Visitation and services will be held on Monday, February 19, 2018 at 11:00am at Lasting Tributes, 814 Bestgate Rd., Annapolis, MD 21401. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Osteogenesis Imperfecta Foundation in Gaithersburg, MD.
