Samuel Meadows Atcherson's Obituary
Samuel M. Atcherson, 92, of Bowie, MD passed away peacefully on 01/29/2017 at the Annapolitan and now rests in peace with his beloved wife, Betty, and all his favorite dogs including Freckles, Bye and Corky. Born in Tomahawk, WI, the son of Ray Morse Atcherson and Mary Vance Meadows. Samuel proudly served in WWII with the Seabees in the South Pacific. Samuel worked as a Program Manager Engineer with ERCO- ACF and Link-Singer, where he was awarded a patent for generating sound in computers. Samuel loved the Great Outdoors and shared his interests in Camping, Fishing, Hunting and Boy Scouts with his four sons. Other hobbies included Ham Radio, Photography, Radio Controlled Airplanes and Ballroom Dancing. After retirement, Samuel was instrumental in the design and development of the Bowie Senior Center, where he taught computer classes. Samuel is survived by four sons, Mark, Ray, Paul and Scott, 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. His final resting place will be at the Forest Home Cemetery in Milwaukee, WI, along with his wife Betty and parents. A Remembrance Tribute will be held 2-4 PM at the Lasting Tributes Funeral Home in Annapolis on March 4th, 2017. Contributions can be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake.
