Nathan Verland Wright-Waterman's Obituary
Nathan Verland Wright-Waterman, 43, longtime Annapolis resident has died after a long illness.
Born December 28, 1980 at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, he spent much of his life in Maryland. He traveled up and down the Atlantic coast and waterways over the years. Nathan spent time living in Augusta, Maine and aboard the 41 foot sailboat Susquehanna, living in the Bahamas Islands as a child. Nathan’s scientific mind and extensive research made him the “go to” for identifying sea life. He came to Annapolis in 1988 and attended area schools including Annapolis Elementary, Middle, and High school and AACC where he studied guitar. He volunteered caring for children and animals; with the PACT and SPCA organizations respectively.
Nathan had an amazing ear and could play almost anything he heard enough on his custom guitar. He lived his life immersed in music, whether on his ever present headphones, or listening to live music bartending around town. After all of his animal friends, Nathan, most loved being outside – at the pool, on the water, playing, tennis, baseball, skateboarding, snowboarding, or walking any dog. He honed his skills on a survival trip snowboarding in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. He loved flora and fauna, literature, science, comedy, and a great conversation – especially if he cared passionately about the topic. He had particular ways, a kind heart, a generous spirit, and a wide smile for anyone who needed it.
Nathan is survived by his mother Laura, his sisters, Rachel, Amy, Candace, Sue, his brothers Christopher, Tod, Eric, his grandmother Emogene, his Aunt Jo, his Uncle Ken, many in-laws, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Nathan was preceded in death by his father Dr. Roger Waterman, paternal grandparents and maternal grandfather, and beloved dog Misha.
A memorial gathering will be held Sunday, August 11 at 2 p.m. Red Maple Pavilion in Quiet Waters Park. Memorial donations can be made to: Anne Arundel County animal care and control- faacac.org Friends of Quiet Waters Park-fqwp.org
