Ode To Nathan
Written by Aunt Jo with endless LOVE
* I wrote this in the present tense because I believe Nathan’s love and energy live on.
You’re the youngest of 8,
And a truly, “Nate The Great”!
A darling , gentle, curious toddler,
With Laura your Mom, and Roger your Father.
So much to discover,
So much to explore,
You learned quite a lot from your Sister Rachel,
Whom you clearly adore.
Christopher, Amy, Candace
Todd, Eric, and Sure,
Are your siblings too,
Whose births came before you.
A year on the sailboat,
To call your home.
The inland waterways, and Bahamas,
Your family did roam.
Family vacations, celebrations,
Kites to fly,
To Outward Bound Adventures
You did apply, and went.
A gentle, kind soul
To all that you meet,
Kindness to animals
Is in your heart beat.
Dog walks, movies, books, music, skateboards,
Puns, talents galore,
You are all of those,
And so much more.
Your ocean blue eyes,
Your sometimes, “I know something
You don’t know” smile,
Your warm hugging arms and loving smile,
You can carry gif miles.
The unique gifts that you choose
Are always a treasure,
Their value to me,
Is way beyond measure.
(You will honor Nathan’s life when you are kind to an animal or give someone your smile or show sone love to someone.)
Nathan,
I started loving you on the day I learned you were on the way. As Andy Gibbs sang, it’s an “Everlasting Love”.
You really are a rocket scientist. I watched you assemble and fly a rocket twice as a young child.
It flew so high. And now you live among the stars in heaven. Soar with the love we send you today, and in the care of God.
My heart is an aching to see you, talk with you, hug you. I’ll have to close my eyes and hear your distinctive, distinguished voice and see you and sense you in music and through the movies of the memories of my mind.
Soar happy, my most beloved nephew. XO…&
