I am so sorry for your loss. I grew up with Chantal and would hang out at Mrs. Easton house. My prayers are with the family. 🙏🏽🤗
I have so many memories of my grandmother, but one of the clearest is from when I was just a toddler. I remember wandering into the kitchen, curious and playful, and somehow, I ended up trailing behind her. She was busy, probably focused on her work, and I was just a little boy full of wonder. Suddenly, she closed the pantry door between us, and I found myself in complete darkness. I don’t know if she did it intentionally — maybe because I was always on her trail, or perhaps it was accidental. But I remember feeling surprised and a little scared, and her smile still lingers in my mind. Her laughter was contagious, and it made even a dark pantry feel like a fun adventure.
My grandmother was a woman full of stories and humor. She always had a funny story to tell, and on those hot summer days, she’d gather us all around on the front step. I remember her getting a new ice cream maker, and the excitement she had when she started churning out homemade ice cream. We’d sit there in the sun, eagerly waiting, as she made those delicious, cold treats. That simple joy — sharing ice cream on a warm day — is a memory I hold close to my heart.
She was also a hard-working woman who never complained. Whether she was cooking, cleaning, or caring for her family, she did it all with a quiet strength and grace. She was a truly special lady, one who left a mark on everyone she met.
And oh, how she knew how to play when we crossed the line or got on her nerves! She’d promise to catch us, but she wasn’t always fast enough. That’s why she had her magic slipper — she’d take it off and sling it like a frisbee, knowing she couldn’t always catch us but still keeping us in check. The laughter that followed was always genuine, and her smile would light up the whole yard. I promise, Grandma, I’ll catch you one of these days — but I know you’d always promise to catch us first.
Those memories of her—her laughter, her stories, her strength, and her playful spirit—are treasures I carry with me. She was a truly special lady, and I am grateful for every moment I shared with her.

I'll forever have the so fond memories of our auntie Lucille. She was such a beautiful woman inside and out! Always kind & loving. I'll miss your smile and that little head cock while giving you that little sideways look, 😆 as she would roll her eyes. I love you Auntie, may you rest peacefully with uncle Howard once again. Your niece Diane Blake 😍
When I was a little girl I spent the weekend with Aunt Lucille. During that visit she let me help her churn butter. Take your rest, love you.
