Dr. Lawrence B. Greenberg's Obituary
They say that life is not in the dates but in the dash. In that case, we're going to need a much bigger dash!
Growing up on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, son of Jack & Doris Greenberg with his sister Sandy and brother Martin, Larry learned early that education would be his key to success. Through his years at Stuyvesant High School, City University of NY and Albert Einstein Medical School, Larry studied hard and well. But perhaps his greatest learning was in the quiet of the New York City Public Library, the tumultuous streets of Manhattan and the intensity of McBurney's Gym.
He was a doctor's doctor. Over the course of his career he helped thousands of patients. And he was beloved by patients and staff alike. In the nursing homes at which he consulted they dubbed him "doctor amazing". He came to know the cafeteria and maintenance staffs as well as the CEO. And if a VIP needed a doctor, they'd call in Larry.
Medicine wasn't his only passion. Larry was a martial artist and an Olympic powerlifter. His most treasured memory the opportunity to work out and practice Kendo in the Emperor's dojo at Edo Castle in Tokyo.
But Larry's most important roles were husband to Diane, father to David and Sarah, and father in law to Heather. The legacy of love and laughter will live on with them forever. His memory, like his life, will be a blessing.
The family will gather at 10am on Tuesday October 10 at Lasting Tributes...services to begin at 11.
Shiva will commence immediately following the service at the Greenberg home. Shiva visitation will continue Wed & Thurs 2-4pm & 7-8pm and Fri 11am-12pm.
Donations can be made in Larry's memory to the American Cancer Society, who helped fund his medical education.
