Julie Marie Sorenson's Obituary
Julie Marie Sorenson passed away peacefully in the presence of family on January 20, 2026, following a long and courageous battle with cancer. While the illness ended her life, it served to profoundly strengthen her faith. Her incredible spirit was never diminished and will always be with us.
Julie was born in San Francisco on September 26, 1958, the daughter of John V. (Jack) Sorenson and Margaret M. (Sam) (Froelich) Sorenson. She is survived by her husband of nearly 35 years, Francis (Frank), three children, Arturo (Turo), Veronica (Vero) and Cecelia (Ceci), and brother Jeffrey (Jeff) Sorenson.
Julie held multiple post-graduate degrees in medicine and integrative health, working for decades as a surgical and OB-GYN physician assistant (PA-C) and later as a nutritionist (CNS, LDN). She was particularly dedicated to women’s health issues throughout her career and was driven by a deep desire to care for people. Her many years of clinical experience, combined with endless research and a passionate belief in food as medicine, made her a much sought-after advisor and healer.
While she was incredibly proud of her career accomplishments, Julie viewed having a strong, loving family and raising three amazing children as her greatest achievement.
In addition to being dedicated to her family and profession, Julie cared for two rescue dogs, River and Violet, was an avid gardener and herbalist, and always enjoyed traveling.
A memorial service will be held at St. Andrew by the Bay Parish (701 College Pkwy, Annapolis, MD 21409) on Friday, February 27, 2026, at 11am.
