Judith H. Hise's Obituary
Judith Lorraine Howard Hise, 82, of Columbus, Ohio and Edgewater, Maryland, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2026 at Luminis Health Anne Arundel Medical Center. Judie was young at heart, quick to laugh and make others smile, and gave generously of her time and affection. A celebration of life service will take place at Lasting Tributes in Annapolis, Maryland on February 15, 2026 at 2:00pm.
Born in Columbus, Ohio on June 23,1943, Judie attended Holy Rosary Catholic School with her siblings Mark and Jackie. Judie also proudly attended The Ohio State University and took courses toward a degree. Judie was honored to serve for eight years as an elected member of the Bexley School Board in Bexley, Ohio, where Judie and her husband Ron Hise lived and raised their three children. Throughout her life, Judie was a true believer in the transformative value of education.
Judie cherished spending time with her husband, Ron; children; grandchildren; and grand-dogs. She loved music (Broadway musical soundtracks; Peter Paul and Mary; and Queen were favorites), playing card games (especially euchre), reading (she never missed a new W.E.B. Griffin book or, more recently, Amanda Gorman), and watching women’s sports (anything but especially women’s basketball).
Judie made many extraordinary friends along her journey through life. Most especially in Bexley, Ohio (and Holy Rosary-St. John and Christ the King parishes), Buckeye Lake, Ohio, and Edgewater, Maryland, Judie was grateful for her friendships, many of them decades-long and some new, with so many good people.
Judie was preceded in death by her husband, Ron. She is survived by her children, Rachel, Rhonda, and Jerrod, her son-in-law Benjamin Chiang, her daugher-in-law Kimberly Hise, and her four grandchildren: Maya, Roman, India, and Jussara. She also leaves behind many extended Ross and Hise family members and beloved friends.
Judie will be remembered for her unwavering love of Ohio State football (Go Bucks!), her support of equal rights for women, and love for her family.
In lieu of flowers (although Judie loved flowers so they are appreciated), please consider donating to EMILYs List or Women for Women International. EMILYs List is an organization dedicated to increasing women's participation in elected office that Judie supported for more than 30 years. Women for Women International supports women survivors of war and conflict around the world, providing vocational training, microloans, and social empowerment for women to rise beyond their circumstances. Judie sponsored women over the past 15 years to enable them to support themselves and their families.
Friends and family are invited to Lasting Tributes in Annapolis, Maryland on February 15 at 2:00pm. A Celebration of Life service at will be followed by a reception until 4pm. Expressions of sympathy may also be sent to 3596 Fontron Drive, Edgewater, Maryland 21037.
