Joyce Martin Sutton's Obituary
Joyce Martin Sutton was born on September 22, 1958 in Beaver Falls, PA entrusted by our Savior to Robert Alfreda and Viola Anna Laura Martin, as the fifth of six daughters. She entered into eternal rest on January 6, 2018.
Joyce spent her life serving others. She served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1979. Following active duty, Joyce resided in Sierra Vista, AZ where she raised her children. She went on to become a nurse and served in many medical specialties throughout her career. Joyce worked for MedStar Health- Cardiology Associates in Washington, DC before retiring. She loved the patients, coworkers and doctors that she served. In retirement, she cared for her grandchildren and served as an official Volunteer Voting Coordinator in Anne Arundel County, MD. Known by many as a hard, dedicated and dependable worker, her greatest work was as a mother and grandmother.
Joyce had a heart of gold and loved and helped those around her. She loved to laugh and enjoyed spending time with her family, watching football, old movies and listening to music. She is known fondly as an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, and enjoyed cheering them on. She especially enjoyed watching butterflies, eating seafood and talking with her grandchildren.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Viola Martin and Uncle, Jesse Martin. She leaves to cherish her memory, her children- Pamela Miller of Glen Burnie, MD; Elizabeth Perry of Bowie, MD and Tiffany Miller of Odenton, MD; her grandchildren- Marcellis Williams, Analysha Lasua, Angenette Miller, Jalen Miller, Elijah Kanu, Benjamin Alexander and a blessing on the way from heaven. She is also survived by her sisters- Mamie Martin (Edgewood, MD), Josephine Akins (Beaver Falls, PA), Delores Alexander (Beaver Falls, PA), Juenelle Andrus (Edgewood, MD) and baby sister and brother, Angenette and Kenneth Ward (Beaver Falls, PA), and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives. Her bonus children, William Alexander and Ebony Moore also mourn and cherish her.
John 14:1-3
Let not your heart be troubled; ye believe in God, believe also in me.
In my Father’s house are many mansions, if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
