John James Ludlam's Obituary
John J. Ludlam of Annapolis, Maryland passed away peacefully on Monday, October 28, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 27, 1941 in Millville, NJ., the son of John Claude Ludlam and Gertrude Reardon Ludlam, who preceded him in death.
He is survived by his loving wife Annette Wooten Ludlam; sons, Kevin and Peter and Peter’s wife, Laura; and his brother, Harvey, and his wife, Barbara.
He attended elementary school at St. Andrew’s and high school at Monsignor Bonner High School also in Drexel Hill, PA. Jack attended St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia and Glassboro State College (now Rowan University).
Known as Jack by many, and as “J.J.” by his ATC colleagues. He served a short time in the Marine Corps. Jack then began his lifelong career in Air Traffic Control working at Dulles and Reagan International Airports and Martin State Airport in Maryland.
Jack loved sailing on the Chesapeake Bay with friends and family on his sailboat “Joyful”, whose name perfectly captured his attitude when out on the water. Jack approached life with terrific enthusiasm and spread that feeling to those around him. He enjoyed music, especially bluegrass, both playing on his banjo and listening to it live in concert. He was an avid Washington Redskins/Commanders and Baltimore Orioles fan and really enjoyed watching sports with his sons Kevin and Peter. Truly a dog lover all his life, he was devoted to his dog, Gumbo, who was a faithful companion always by his side. He and his dear wife Annette loved to travel and had many exciting adventures together and with friends.
A memorial service will be held at Lasting Tributes, 814 Bestgate Road, Annapolis MD 21401 on Saturday, November 16, 2024 at 12:15 pm. Family and friends are welcome to gather at 11:30 am until the beginning of the service. Fellowship will resume after the service until 2:00 pm.
