John Philip Dugan's Obituary
John P. Dugan passed away on Tuesday July 1st . An internationally acclaimed scientist, he never fully retired, writing papers and planning for conferences on his work with Areté Associates.
John’s dedication to his career was surpassed only by his devotion to his family and friends. During their 50 years of marriage, he and wife Barbara enjoyed working on their home and finding time for travels to Europe and around the US in pursuit of Victorian antiques, trains and miniatures. His children Jan, Christy, Tim and Mike will always remember their Dad’s generosity, wisdom, kindness, humor, special family camping trips and holidays. Zach, Josh and Andy will always know that their PopPop was “awesome” and knew the answer to everything.
Those who knew John will recall his easy going personality, his ever-present smile and that except for weddings he never wore ties. He appreciated a good English ale, talking science with friends and family and watching his grandsons play soccer.
John will be remembered on Saturday, July 26 at Lasting Tributes Cremation & Funeral Care, 814 Bestgate Rd, Annapolis from 1:00 pm until the start of the memorial service at 3:30pm. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Lymphoma Research Foundation, www.lymphoma.org.
