Jodie Fingland's Obituary
Our dearest Jodie Fingland, a devoted wife and grandmother who cherished her family above all else, passed away peacefully at her home in Annapolis, MD on Sunday, September 4th after a long illness. She was 63.
She is survived by her husband, Bob Fingland, her children and spouses Dr. Nicholas Fingland and Emily Fingland, Virginia Fingland and Marvin Sellman, Michael Fingland and Andrea Fingland and seven grandchildren, as well as a brother, David Magidson and Dr. Andrea Cox, a sister, Debra Magidson and John Vaillant and her parents, Herb & Barbara Magidson.
Jodie’s prime work was in education. She was the Principle Advisor for Legislative Affairs and Deputy Assistant Secretary, Office of Legislation and Congressional Affairs at the U.S. Department of Education.
Prior to that, she was Assistant Director, Office of Government Relations at the American Federation of Teachers and Associate Director of the Office of Human Resources at the AFT.
Jodie’s gracious and loving spirit brought joy to those with whom she worked and a quiet sense of shared commitment for the values she held dear.
Her sometimes quiet demeanor masked an intelligence and fierce determination to make the world a better place - especially for those in need.
She will be sorely missed, but the richness of her character will live on in all those she touched while on this earth.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial donation to Hospice of the Chesapeake
