Gerry Lynn Smith's Obituary
Rev. Gerry Lynn Smith, 69, of Annapolis died peacefully at home on Thursday, January 26, 2017, following a lengthy battle with cancer.
We have the assurance that he is in Heaven with His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ because he had placed his faith and trust in Christ and Him alone at the age of 12.
He was born on July 19, 1947 to the late Ralph and Rachel Smith in Hagerstown, Md. He graduated from Boonsboro High School and Washington Bible College. He received a Masters in Theology, a Masters of Sacred Literature and a Doctorate in Theology from Trinity Theological Seminary.
Pastor Gerry, as he was lovingly called, served as Pastor of Clearfield Bible Church from 1968-1970. He has been the Pastor of South River Bible Church for the past 46 1/2 years. He also served as a professor at Washington Bible College for over 10 years where he was instrumental in many lives.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Jami.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Deannie of 49 years. And his son Jason (Joanna) and daughters Jodi (Jeremy) Simpkins, Jenee(Jeff) Parrish and Juli (Luke) Railsback and grandchildren Makayla, Alyssa & Brayden Smith; Ben, Gavin & Zachary Simpkins; Corey, Madison, Jami & Kaci Parrish; and Jordyn, Jaidyn, Kynzie & Kolton Railsback. He is also survived by his brothers Terry L. Smith and Jerry W. Smith.
He is remembered as a faithful and supportive husband, father, grandfather, Pastor, teacher, friend and mentor.
A memorial visitation will be held on Sunday, January 29th from 7-9 at South River Bible Church, Davidsonville, Md. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 11th at 3 pm at South River Bible Church. Interment will be private.
