George Charles Law's Obituary
George was born at 7:11 in the morning on January 5, 1943 to George E. Law and Mildred R. Stith Law. He was the twin to John Hardy Law (1943-2018) and the younger brother to Catherine Ruth Law Yatsco. George had two biological children, Christina Renee’ Law and Andrew Charles Law (1971-2020) and was a father figure to Brent Law, Warren Law, Sherri Holsey Rose, and Vercie Hodgkins. Many will remember George as somewhat of a legend of his time. George owned 3 businesses in the course of his life; Law Lock and Safe, Law Brother’s Hardware, and the AA Mobile fastener business. Law Brother’s Hardware was an iconic business known for top notch customer service and an “if you can’t find it anywhere else” kind of establishment. George was a plumbing part extraordinaire, a trusted businessman, and friend to so many. George had many accomplishments in his life. He crafted a theater in the round in 7th grade, won a Citizenship Award in High School, was the President of the Honor Society, and was beyond athletic. He scored 45 points in a basketball game while attending the Glen Burnie High School and it is rumored that he still holds the title for the most points scored in one game. He scored several 300-point games as a bowler, as well. He was a pro baseball prospect; hit a homerun outside of Memorial Park, was MVP at Gordon Stores, MVP at Johns Hopkins, and played for 3 years as a first basemen for Leones of Baltimore. George attended 2 years at Johns Hopkins University, 1 year McCoy College, and 1 semester at the University of Maryland. George was also interested in politics, running for several positions in almost every political affiliation, including the Green Party. George was a Master gardener, most well-known for growing a vast variety of tomato plants and being a champion gourd grower. He loved sharing tomato stories with his sister, Cathy and brother John. George was also a published writer, penning many articles to the Gazette. He was featured numerous times in articles about his gourds and the Hardware Store. Following his retirement, George became a full-time gardener and an independent faucet part entrepreneur. Most of this nostalgic information came from stories, friends, and his Match.com profile that he had hoped would yield a best-selling book on online dating experiences. George passed away on December 23, 2020 in his home in Queenstown, MD. He is survived by his daughter Christina (Tina) Law, sister Catherine, countless friends, and loyal Law Brother’s customers. Services will be held on May 10, 2021 at 10:00 am at the Glen Haven Memorial Park.
