Esther Ansley Whitehair's Obituary
Esther Ansley Whitehair, 99, a 65-year resident of Crownsville, has gone home to be with the Lord on August 21, 2021. She was born to the late William Francis and Sadie Frances Ansley in Chariton, IA on October 29, 1921. She moved to the area in 1941 after graduating high school and accepting a career in government, working for the US Navy, Air Force, and NSA throughout her many working years. While working in Washington, D.C., she met her husband Howard, of 59 years. Esther was a devoted member of South Shore Baptist Church. She enjoyed serving as volunteer with her church, reading, crocheting, and watching game shows.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Whitehair; her parents; her brother, Emerson Ansley; and sister, Mary Ellen Reeves. She is survived by her four children: Aileen Sohn, Bob Whitehair, Martha Meade, and Christine Wolfe; nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, ten great, great-grandchildren; one brother, O. Morris Ansley; and generations of nieces and nephews from the East to the West coast.
A public visitation will be held on Monday, August 30 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Lasting Tributes Cremation & Funeral Care, 814 Bestgate Road, Annapolis, MD 21401. Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 31 at 11:00 am at Lasting Tributes. Entombment at Bestgate Memorial Park will follow. Services will be livestreamed and can be accessed on the funeral home website. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to South Shore Church, 725 Herald Harbor Road, Crownsville MD 21032.
