Mrs. Murphy was my neighbor when she lived in Philadelphia back in the 1990s. She had many skills but food science was her favorite. I loved sitting in her kitchen and hearing her tales of work in the city at Good Housekeeping kitchens. She would share her recipes with me and recommend ways for me to eat healthy, and lose weight. I hope her recipe book survives forever. She loved to talk politics (we were both on the same side!) and was so proud of her granddaughter. At one point, she planted a dismal little bush along side her driveway in a dank spot with poor drainage that NEVER got any sun at all. But somehow the bush survived and still greets the current home's owner each day. It has not grown a single inch over the last decade but it still stands slender and strong despite tough conditions...just like this tough coal- country gal did for many years. I am happy she was once a part of my life. Her family is fortunate to have had her for so many years. Bless you all.
