Edward Martin Walos' Obituary
Edward Martin Walos, 76, passed away at Hospice of the Chesapeake on Tuesday Nov. 21, 2023, after dealing with a long-term illness. One thing is for sure, he was not a quitter; he kept his strong faith throughout it all.
Edward Walos, better known as Ed, was born in McKeesport, Pennsylvania on January 26, 1947, to parents of Edward Alexander and Evalyn Walos (Kichan). Ed graduated from McKeesport Highschool in 1964, and then attended Duff’s Business Institute of Pittsburgh. He served two years of active duty in the Navy on the USS Holland, and then finished in the Naval Reserves. Ed was honorably discharged from the Navy and awarded a National Defense Service Medal. Shortly after, Ed attended Drake University in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida and earned a degree in Business and Administration. Then on November 27, 1971, Teri Morris became his wife.
Ed’s business career was well over thirty years in the automotive industry while working for Mid-Atlantic and Central Atlantic Toyota. He had different management roles within the company. He retired from Toyota in 2012.
Ed had a passion for sports, and he was a big collector. If you wanted to know baseball statistics, Ed was the guy to ask. As a young boy, he played baseball in Christy Park with his buddies. His all-time favorite ball player was Pittsburgh Pirate, Bill Mazeroski, #9 (Maz). Ed often shared how he rooted for Maz when he hit a homerun to win the 1960 World Series. Ed enjoyed taking his family to Forbes Field to relive baseball memories. A dream of Ed’s was to meet Maz. With Ed’s determination and grit, he figured out a way to connect with Maz, and soon they went golfing together. Ed was so excited about the experience and often talked about it.
If Ed wasn’t engrossed with baseball, watching his kids or grandkids play sports, he would be either watching old time cowboy movies or cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers while singing their fight song. Ed liked to sing anything ranging from the Oldies to Ukrainian Polkas. Ed also enjoyed taking family vacations. Some of the best memories were made while deep sea fishing in the Bahamas, Hawaii, Carolinas, and Florida with his wife and two kids.
Finally, Ed Walos was a man who loved Jesus. He witnessed and helped lead people to Jesus Christ. He was a member of Bay Area Community Church, in which he and his wife fellowshipped with supportive and loving friends.
Ed loved his family and made sure that everyone was always taken care of. He also had a special place in his heart for his dogs (Hoagie, Hootch, Onix, Snapper, Loafer, and Scooby). He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Teri Levitte Walos; son, Ryan Edward Walos; daughter, Linsey Beth Haughton; son-in- law, Chris Haughton; daughter-in-law, Giovonna Walos; his four grandchildren, Jewlianna & Easton Walos, and Benjamin & Westin Haughton; and his brother Jeffery Walos and family.
Visitation will be at Lasting Tributes Funeral Care, 814 Bestgate Road, Annapolis, MD 21401 on Monday, December 4, 2023 from 10:30am - 12:30pm. A funeral service will be held at the same location on December 4, 2023 at 12:30pm followed by a Military Honors and interment at Crownsville Veteran's Cemetery at 2:30pm.
The family shared that Ed suggested that he doesn’t want people to mourn, instead celebrate with bright colors because he is with Jesus. In remembrance of Ed, please consider donating to the National Kidney Foundation.
