I've said many times that the Greene family gave us, and the world, a wonderful gift when they gave us David E. Greene. He was a gentleman, a clown, a friend, and a very caring soul. While David E. was incredibly talented in both song and dance, his greatest talent may have been with people. He was always attentive to the person in front of him and listened with his heart. He could put others' needs ahead of his own. He could help others realize the good in themselves. You, my friend, made us all better people. David E. could and would also snap his fingers over his shoulders and tell some to "get over it". Something we saw in rehearsals over the years. It would take us from a tense moment to laughter. David E. could sleep on any thing. Upright in a lawn chair, in a empty bath tub, on the floor... the point I'm making is that once David E. got tired, he was gonna sleep and there wasn't anything anyone was gonna do about it -- makes me laugh until this day. We first worked together at Musicana in 1979 in Indian Harbour, Florida. Our first show was "Dearie", with songs and dances from the late 1800s to early 1900s. We sang a duet "Push Me Along In My Pushcart" which ended with, "with the one I love". David E., I loved you like family. You meant the world to me. And so I thank the God almighty that you were part of my life for nearly 40 years. So while you're up there in heaven and I'm here on earth, we'll see the same stars and realize that we are not that far apart after all. I will forever love you, David E. Greene.
