Christine "Chris" Ronk's Obituary
With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Christine "Chris" Ronk, 65, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and cherished member of her community. Chris passed away surrounded by her loving family.
Chris was the devoted wife of Brian Ronk and the loving mother of Megan Murphy (Matthew), Jessica Blazer (Zach), Anya Ronk, and the late Valentine Ronk. She was the proud grandmother of Eleanor Rose and the cherished sister of Kathleen Haystrick (Ken). Chris was preceded in death by her parents, George and JoLana Chernesky. She also leaves her godson, Peter Kormos, her niece, Elizabeth Noll (Chuck), and her great-niece and nephew, Emma and Connor.
Chris had an incredible zest for life, exemplified through her unwavering dedication to family, friends, and community. Known for her joyful smile and warm hugs, Chris brought light and love wherever she went. She was a woman of immense faith and strength, traits that inspired all who knew her.
Chris's professional journey was as diverse as it was impactful. From 1985 to 1991, she served as a legislative assistant for Ohio Congressman John Kasich, contributing to critical policy development and governance. She later worked for Citizens Against Government Waste, where her advocacy for fiscal responsibility reflected her passion for effective government. More recently, she served as a Community Liaison for Delegate Sid Saab in District 33, Anne Arundel County, Maryland House of Delegates, fostering meaningful connections between the community and local government.
Her career was complemented by her tireless volunteer work and civic engagement. A member of the Severna Park Republican Women’s Club since 2013, Chris served in several leadership roles, including President from 2018 to 2019. She worked tirelessly to advocate for conservative values, monitor legislative developments, and organize impactful community fundraisers. She hosted events to support local candidates, served as an election judge, and attended conventions and meetings across Maryland.
A graduate of Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, Chris combined her education, professional experience, and commitment to service into a life that touched countless people. She balanced her career and volunteerism with grace, devoting over 17 years to Vineyard Community Church of Central Maryland, where she organized 30 American Red Cross Blood Drives and oversaw numerous community outreach projects.
Chris's courageous battle with ovarian cancer, diagnosed during her volunteer work in 2012, showcased her incredible strength and resilience. She faced challenges with grace and unwavering faith, leaving a legacy of hope and inspiration.
Chris will be remembered as a woman of deep compassion, boundless energy, and unwavering love. She was a dedicated wife, a nurturing mother, an adoring grandmother, and a treasured friend to many. Her memory will forever be etched in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Chris's life will be celebrated at The Well—A Vineyard Church, 255 Najoles Rd, Millersville, MD 21108, at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 25, 2025.
