Brooks Alexander Broome, Jr.'s Obituary
Brooks Alexander Broome, Jr., age 91, passed away on August 6, 2022 in Annapolis, Maryland.
Brooks is survived by his wife Peggy Day Alton of 42 years, his daughters Deborah Broome and Mary Candis Broome Thompson, both of Tennessee, step daughters Pamela Alton Duvall, Veronica Alton Coale (Thomas), grand daughter Julie Ann Thompson, step grandchildren Glendon Turner III (Joanna), Krista Turner, Thomas Coale Jr. (Kelsey), Patricia Suniga (Albert), Matthew Coale, great grandson Knox Candler Towe and seven step great grandchildren, brothers John Charles Broome and Gene Broome.
Brooks was preceded in death by his parents Brooks Broome, Sr. and Dorothy Ann Broome Weadon, his brothers William Augustus Broome, Lawrence Allen Broome, Neil Broome and his grandson Justin Roger Thompson.
Brooks was born on September 8, 1930 in Charleston, South Carolina. His father was in the U.S. Navy. Brooks graduated high school in Wilmington, North Carolina. His career spanned from a police officer in Montgomery County, to a design engineer for Rockwell International and Westinghouse where he retired.
Brooks was a member of South River Bible Church. He believed Jesus died for our sins and wholeheartedly loved the Lord. We take comfort in knowing he is in eternity with God now.
Brooks enjoyed boating, eating crabs, his many years marching in Boumi Drum Corp parades playing the drums and brass instruments, watching the Baltimore Orioles and Ravens games and spending time with his family and friends.
Brooks was a long standing member of the Masonic Lodge, Mid-Atlantic Shrine Association, Boumi Shriners, Boumi Temple Drum Corps, Boumi Temple Yacht Club and Chesapeake Commodores Club. He served many roles over the years such as: Treasurer, Secretary, Captain, Chaplain and Commodore, just to name a few.
A Celebration of Life has been scheduled for Saturday, September 3 at Lasting Tributes located at 814 Bestgate Road, Annapolis, MD 21401. The family will receive guests from 1:00 pm until the start of Brooks' memorial at 1:30 pm. Concluding services, Brooks' family invites guests to join them in fellowship until 4:00 pm.
