Greetings Family Drewes,
Doreen and I wish to express our love and deep sorrow for the loss of our wonderful Uncle Wolf, your beloved Husband and Father. Our hearts are warmed by the fact that the family was present to a great extent at his passing.
I'll always remember Wolf's strong and guiding demeanor, his warm smile and above all, his deep and profound appreciation for a growing mind. Whenever I spoke with Wolf about my scientific endeavors and aspirations, he always reminded me with those wonderful, knowing eyes that you can never stop learning and improving in your work, and that continued affiliations with the edudactional system and university environment. As my Uncle, Wolf has provided me the best example to follow when interacting with my own Nephews and Nieces.
Over 15 years ago at Christmas, I received from Wolf what is still my favorite tie; a Natl. Weather Service tie imprinted with the pattern of a weather map. I have since then, always worn this unusual and interesting tie to professional functions. Coincidentally, on the evening after Wolf's passing, I was at my first holiday party with my new employer when I was asked about the interesting tie. When I looked down, the significance of the timing struck me, and that became a sad anecdote in front of my colleagues, which instantly brought a lump to my throat and a tear to my eye. I'll never forget that, just like I'll never forget what I have gained from having such a wonderful Uncle.
We send you all of our love and our deepest condolences,
Jeff and Doreen
