William Harold Heffel's Obituary
William “Bill” Heffel, age 66, passed away April 2, 2021 following a lengthy struggle with hospital acquired Covid-19. Beloved husband to Verlinda, father to Brandon, Ashton, and Monica, Boppa to seven grandchildren, Bill favored family time above all else. Aside from family, his passion was music. He was blessed with talents for singing and composing, as well as playing guitar and Irish fiddle. Throughout their 36 years of marriage, Bill and Verlinda performed together at churches, fairs and festivals. In recent years Bill enjoyed taking his fiddle to the streets of downtown Annapolis and playing for the wandering crowds. He and Verlinda most enjoyed finding a quiet spot in nature – God’s theater - to sing simply for the joy of being together.
Well-read and well educated, Bill was a graduate of Concordia Theological Seminary in St. Louis, where he earned a Master of Divinity degree. Upon graduation he was ordained and installed as a Minister in the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. Throughout his career Bill pastored churches in North Dakota, Wisconsin, California, Washington, and Maryland.
Bill was a man of great kindness, wit, intelligence, and honor. He will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A memorial service, officiated by Rev. Tyson Labuhn, will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Bowie, MD on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at 12:00 pm.
