William Joseph Halbig's Obituary
William Joseph (Buddy) Halbig, 84, passed away Sunday, May 13th 2018, at Mandrin Hospice Home with his loving family by his side. He was born on January 11, 1934 in Annapolis, MD to the late Joseph and Leola Halbig. He was a member of Annapolis High School class of 1954.
He worked for 18 years for the A P and Safeway food stores as dairy manager. His true passion was fire fighting; joining Water Watch Hook and Ladder Company as a volunteer at age 16. He became a career Naval Academy fire fighter/EMT, retiring in 1991. Bud was a Naval Reservist for 8 years, serving on active duty from 1956-58.
He enjoyed camping in his trailer with his family, golfing with his children and grandchildren, and especially bowling with the Severna Park Senior Bowling League. His greatest joy was attending his grandsons' ice hockey games and cheering them on.
In addition to his wife of 63 years, Constance Dolores, he is survived by his daughter, Denise Lynn Klakring (David) and son Dennis Joseph Halbig (Lisa) and three grandsons, Joshua David Klakring, Jonathan Scott Klakring and Christian Joseph Meade Halbig.
He was a member of Annapolis Evangelical Lutheran Church.
The service will be held at Lasting Tributes Funeral Home, located at 814 Bestgate Road, Annapolis, Maryland, with viewing on Sunday, May 20th from 2:00pm-5:00pm. Service to be held the following day, with gathering to begin at 11:30am with funeral to follow at 12:30pm.
Interment to take place at Crownsville Veterans Cemetery following the funeral service.
