Wesley J. Neal's Obituary
Survived by wife Ann-Marie Neal; brother Kenneth Neal and sister Rosann Olson; three children: Kim Neal, Alan Neal and Verity-Ann Britton; two granddaughters and four great-grandsons.
Born in De Graff, Minnesota he graduated from Murdock High School and immediately enlisted in the U.S. Navy. After 20 years he retired as a Master Chief Storekeeper (E-9) in 1977. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam, served on 7 ships and 8 shore stations. In addition to being a Vietnam Veteran and a Cold War Veteran, he is an Atomic Veteran, having witnessed the detonation of nuclear, thermo-nuclear and hydrogen weapon devices in the Eniwetok Atoll area of the Pacific Ocean in 1958. After military service, he was employed 33 years by McLaughlin Research Corporation, Middletown, RI as a logistician, during which time he attended Johnson and Wales College graduating with honors in 1984.
Wesley served over 35 years with The Gideons International in Rhode Island and then in Maryland. He was a member of the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Vietnam Veterans of America, the Fleet Reserve Association, National Association of Atomic and Nuclear Veterans, USS Henley DD-762 Association (now disestablished), the Enlisted Association, United States LST Association, National Chief Petty Officers’ Association and Alumni of Johnson & Wales University. He was a member of South County Community Church, Shady Side, MD.

A memorial service will be held at Lasting Tributes, 814 Bestgate Road, Annapolis, MD 21401, on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at 11:00 AM. Friends and family are welcome to gather before and after the service from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM.
