Wesley Dale Gahres' Obituary
Wesley D. Gahres, 71, a longtime resident of Annapolis, MD, died November 26, 2011 at his home after a three year battle with cancer.
Wes was born July 23, 1940 in Tallahassee, FL, son of the late Shirley Conner. He graduated from John Harris High School in Harrisburg, PA, class of 1958. Wes was a member of the U.S. Navy from 1962 to 1966. He studied electrical engineering at the University of Maryland. He retired from Arinc after 26 years of service in 2000. In retirement he taught senior aerobics at Anne Arundel Community College and worked part-time at the Crofton Country Club. He enjoyed sports, particularly Redskins football, playing golf, travel, wildlife, landscape photography, woodworking, and cheering on his grandkids at their soccer games. Wes was also an active member of the Riverview Manor Community.
He was a devoted husband and is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Carol Gahres; four sons, Scott, Christopher and wife Angie, Daniel Gahres and wife Rachelle Evenson, Mark Reynolds and wife Lena Brisland; daughters Sharon Hussey and husband Bill, and Christine Burke and husband Shawn; eleven grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
Friends may visit from 6pm to 8pm on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at Lasting Tributes Cremation and Funeral Care, 814 Bestgate Rd. Annapolis, MD. A funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, December 1, 2011 at the funeral home. Interment will immediately follow at Crownsville Veterans Cemetery, Crownsville, MD.
