Walter "Wayne" Dixon's Obituary
Walter Wayne Dixon, 67, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, June 14.
Born in Annapolis, Maryland, on May 30, 1959, to Walter and Wanna Dixon, Wayne grew up in Galesville, Maryland. He attended Southern High School and graduated in 1977 with honors from the vo-tech program.
Wayne began working as an auto mechanic in his family's auto repair shop at a young age and spent many years there. In 1995, he began a new chapter in his career as a marine mechanic at Hartge Yacht Yard, where he worked faithfully until retiring three years ago due to illness.
A devoted follower of Christ, Wayne began attending Chesapeake Christian Fellowship in 2013. He became a member and trustee in 2017 and was deeply committed to sharing the good news of salvation with others. His faith was a guiding force in his life and a source of encouragement to all who knew him.
Wayne found joy in building his 1965 Chevrolet pickup truck, attending car shows, and spending time with family and friends. He was known for his kindness, generosity, and willingness to help anyone in need.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Catherine Dixon; his son, Matthew Dixon; his daughter, Amber Brown; his grandson, Keegan Brown; and his sisters, Madeline Hunt, Jean Lunceford, and Joan Stafford. He also leaves behind many extended family members, friends, and fellow church members who will cherish his memory.
Wayne's legacy of faith, hard work, generosity, and love for others will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 20, at Chesapeake Christian Fellowship in Davidsonville, Maryland. The funeral service will immediately follow, with a reception afterward at the church.
Though he will be greatly missed, we rejoice in the assurance of his salvation and the promise that we will see him again.
