Venetia Blanche McNemar's Obituary
Born in Annapolis on April 6, 1938, Venetia Blanche Maupin was the daughter of David Seaton Maupin, USN, from Sweetwater TN, and Bertha E. (Rawlings) Maupin, of Annapolis. Venetia often shared fond memories of growing up in Annapolis. Most were of people and places long since gone.
In 1956, she graduated from Annapolis High School and Fleet's Business School. Venetia then went to work for Governor T.R. McKeldin, until she married Donald G. Hallock, USAF, also of Annapolis, in 1957. They divorced in 1971, and she married Charles A. McNemar in 1972. They were together until his passing in 2017.
Van, as she was known to her friends, had many and varied interests, and was always eager to learn something new. She especially enjoyed traveling to foreign lands, experiencing, and learning from other cultures. She also loved her horses, collecting and restoring antiques, quilting, playing cards, and card making.
In the early hours of November 18, Venetia was called home. She leaves behind her loving son David A. Hallock, of Harwood MD, her stepson Raymond McNemar, of Fuquay-Varina NC, his wife Charm, their sons Cooper and Evan, and her lifelong friend, and sister in Christ, Althea Ward, of Tampa FL.
A memorial service will take place at noon on January 6, 2024. The service will be held at Grace Presbyterian Church, 4012 Birdsville Road in Davidsonville MD. A reception in the church's Fellowship Hall will follow.
In lieu of flowers, do something good for someone less fortunate than yourself, and give the glory to God.
