Vanessa Lolita Sankey's Obituary
Vanessa Lolita Sankey was born on April 8,1965, to Minnie Williams and the late Ervin Sankey Jr in
Montgomery, AL. She was preceded in death by her children's father Rosland Gholston, her stepfather Amos Williams, and siblings: Rosa Williams and DeWitt Williams. Vanessa was educated in the Montgomery County Public School System. In her early adulthood she worked in the hospitality industry. She then spent many years working in the Janitorial industry in healthcare facilities.
She lived most of her life in Montgomery, AL. In 1999 she and her children relocated to the state of Maryland. In Maryland she began her career as a Geriatric Nursing Assistant, in her role as a Geriatric Nursing Assistant is where she found her passion in caring for the elderly. She worked as a Geriatric Nursing Assistant until 2018.
Mama, Aunt, Grandma, Gaga, Sankey and Ms. V, as she was affectionately known, was loved by all who encountered her. S was a genuine, kindhearted person, she was a devoted mother grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend.
Vanessa loved spending time with her family. She often spent quality time with her children and their families. She loved to cook and would feed anyone! She would say, "Food belongs to everyone."
Vanessa often visited her hometown of Montgomery, AL to spend time with her mother, siblings, their children, and other family members. Vanessa was an outgoing person. She loved people! She enjoyed traveling, going out to dance, and just having a good time. She was the type of person that never met a stranger. Anywhere she went she knew someone or would get to know someone, because she was a very friendly and curious person.
To cherish her loving memory, she leaves: three children, Jerrill (Christine) Sankey, Tiffani (Frederick) Acheampong Opoku, Rodrico Sankey and his partner Brittany Solomon; seven grandchildren Amryn, Nyomi, Mina, Nola, Serwah, Kourtney and Brice; Mother Minnie Williams; siblings James Sankey, Valeria (Fredrick) Hardy, Ervin Sankey 3rd, Delvenitha Williams, Marcus (April) Williams, Emeteus (Simeko) Williams, Amos (Yulonda) Williams Sr, Noah Williams and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
