Valerie was a mother of mothers. A real diamond in the rough. She loved spending quality timer with her family and was the "glue" that held the family together. A kind and loving individual, with a heart of gold. She was born in Centralia, Illinois, where she attended school before eventually moving to Detroit. Michigan for a brief period. Finally, settling in Maryland where she lived until her passing. Some of her hobbies included cooking, watching The Young and the Restless, playing slots on her tablet, spades, bid whist, and especially tonk. Throughout her life, Valerie stayed busy. Whether it was being a mother figure to her younger sisters, even as a young woman herself, to helping her mother Gloria with her cleaning business, all the way down to taking in the less fortunate - despite struggles of her own, she never said no. Especially when it came to family and those whom she loved.
She leaves behind three children whom she adored. A son: Alahandro Powe and his wife, Sharon of Annapolis MD.
