Timothy A. Whittington's Obituary
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Timothy Andrew Whittington, our beloved husband and father on July 21, 2026. Tim was born September 9, 1965 in Annapolis, MD, son of the late Carroll Edward Whittington and Marjorie Ann Baker.
At Annapolis High School, Tim displayed an impressive talent for computer science and actually worked for Anne Arundel County Public Schools while still a student. (Rumors that he “adjusted” his grades while working on the school district’s mainframe are believed to be unfounded and have never been confirmed.) Soon after, Tim began his career at CSX Transportation in Baltimore while simultaneously obtaining his computer science degree at University of Maryland Baltimore County.
After seventeen years at CSX, Tim’s passion for learning new and emerging technologies took him into the field of national security.While at CSX Tim met Maureen, his wife of almost 30 years. They married in 1996 and had two beautiful children, Jack (25) and Josephine (23). A solid anchor to his family, Tim always ready with an encouraging word, a cheesy dad joke, or a specially made latte brewed from beans he roasted himself. He was so proud of Jack and Josie.Tim’s large contingent of family and friends will remember him fondly as someone who would sit back patiently and watch “the crazy”, but when he did jump in it was always with a zinger and a laugh.
Tim enjoyed the simple pleasures: a glass of good Scotch or a well-made Old Fashioned; watching “Frasier” reruns (alongside his greyhound, Frasier); and discussing cars and computers with Jack, and music and SQL with Josie. Most of all, he treasured spending time with those he loved.
In addition to his loving wife, Maureen, and his beloved Jack and Josie, Tim is survived by many cherished nieces and nephews, especially Jane, Jimmy, Sophie, Ryan, and Johnathan. He will be missed as well by his extended family, including his brothers, Scott, David (Nancy), John, and sisters Peggy, Vicky, and Sheila. He is predeceased by his brother Butch and his sister Linda.
