Thomas Tyrone Nelson's Obituary
Thomas Tyrone "Ty" Nelson, 65, formally of Annapolis, Maryland, passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 in Georgia from a lengthy illness.
He was born to the late Tommy Nelson and Constance Savoy Reed on February 5, 1949 in Washington, DC.
Following his graduation from Annapolis High School in 1967, he served with distinction in the United States Marine Corps as a Corporal during the Vietnam War.
After retiring from the United States Postal Service, Ty relocated to Stone Mountain, Georgia in 2009.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, riding motorcycles, and playing the bass guitar, as well as fishing, playing golf and woodworking.
He is survived by his wife Rhonda Nelson, four children, Vernell Springer of Lithonia, GA, Arthur Clausell of Chandler, AZ, Tiffany Jones of Baltimore, MD and Tai Nelson of Annapolis, MD, two brothers, Charles Nelson of Jacksonville, NC, and Glenn Nelson of Severn, MD, three sisters, Charlene Belt of Annapolis, MD, Barbara Melvin of Mt. Rainier, MD and Carla Reed of Severn, MD, as well as seven grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the American Diabetes Association.
