Thomas Dean Helton, 54, of Shady Side, MD, died on Wednesday, July 29, 2020 after a 3 month battle with cancer. He leaves behind his wife of one month, Sharon Lee Blevins-Helton, aka "Hot Mama", who he loved with all of his heart, granddaughter Amber Blevins, who he adored and was extremely proud of her accomplishments.
He also leaves behind his Maw and Paw Brenda and Mike Hannah of Birmingham, Alabama, his wonderful sister Vicky Haines with whom he had a very deep connection with and her husband John Haines of Ijamsville who he considered a brother and best friend, and his sister Teresa Helton of Dallas, Texas. And we can't forget his dogs Kaos, Simone, and Zita. He had a multitude of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who will miss him dearly.
Tom loved and had a very close relationship with Kayla Meklenberg of Vinemont, Alabama, and with Rusty Brown of Murfreesboro, Tennessee. He also loved his niece Chelsea Hockett (Dillon) and great-niece Eva Louise Hockett of Xenia, Ohio.
He was pre-deceased by his father, Tommy Dean Helton.
He worked for Miller and Long in Upper Marlboro as a welder. He said he had the best crew that grew into great friendships. The family would like to thank Tom's friends from Miller and Long that visited, helped with home projects and supported him through his illness.
Tom and Sharon loved going on midnight walks around the neighborhood and sitting on pier.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and was always the life of the party. He had a way of always making people laugh.
Tom was the best cook of anyone around. Whether it was hot dogs and beans, his famous taco soup or the best BBQ ribs ever smoked. He had the best cookouts- always making sure everyone had plenty to eat and drink and that everyone was having a good time.
He will be greatly missed by everyone whose life he touched.
