Thomas Alphonso Galloway's Obituary
On May 11, 2023, Thomas A. Galloway, Sr. passed away suddenly at the age of 82, in Atlanta, Georgia. Tommy grew up in the Eastport community of Annapolis and was educated in Anne Arundel County Public Schools.
Tommy joined the United States Army where he honorably served for over 23 years and retired as a Sergeant First Class (SFC). During his time in the military, he was stationed in Fort Dix, New Jersey, Fort Ord, California, Fort Leonardwood, Missouri, Fort Hood, Texas, Baumholder, Germany, and South Korea just to name a few locations. He served three tours during the Vietnam War where he was critically injured as a result of a landmine detonation. Although his life was saved, he continued to bear the painful injuries caused by shrapnel for the rest of his life. His love of America and courage were recognized by the United States Military. He received a “Purple Heart” which is known as the nation's oldest military award.
Tommy enjoyed cruising, reading, watching the Baltimore Ravens play, trinket shopping and living life. He also enjoyed meeting with his Annapolis and Atlanta breakfast clubs; and no debate was off limits. A grand collector of watches and expensive libations, he could tell you the origin of every purchase and its importance to him.
He is survived by his loving children; Four sons: Thomas A. Galloway, Jr., Antoine D. Galloway (Monica), Alonzo D. Galloway (Alease), Terrell Galloway (Ashley); Three daughters: Jacqueline Dailey (Marlon), Cheryl Galloway-Fenner (Greg), Lisa Galloway Jackson (Michael), and goddaughter Deverie Moore. His son, Timothy Galloway preceded him in death. His grandchildren are Jatique Dailey, Courtney Perkins, Antoinece Galloway, Erika Fenner, Latisha Laberto, Taeyler Seiwell, Kyndal Galloway, Gregory Fenner, Jr., Samuel Galloway, Christopher Galloway, Jacqueline Galloway, Machala Galloway, Cole Jackson, Addison Galloway & Alexis Galloway. Sixteen great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. His fiancée Victoria Roles of Baltimore, Maryland was a true partner to the end. He also leaves sisters Carolyn V. Edwards, Sharon V. Mackell, Robyn Cobb-Randall, Beverly D. DeVoe, brother James E. Galloway, Laverne G. Thompson, Lovell T. Thompson, Sherman U. Galloway, Joyce G. Galloway. His brother, Clinton Tucker and sister, Connie V. Queen preceded him in death. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and cherished friends.
Wake and funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 23rd at First Christian Community Church of Annapolis, 1800 Hall-Brown Road, Annapolis, Maryland, with the Christian Wake at 10:30 am, and Funeral service to begin at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Fisher House Foundation and Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Charitable Service Trust. Interment will follow at a later date.
