Theresa Hazel Massey's Obituary
Theresa Henderson Massey passed away in Pasadena, Maryland on October 31, 2024. She
was born in northern California on July 29, 1958. After a remarkable life-adventure filled with shiny rocks, chatty birds, and an infinite supply of instant coffee, time here on Earth has come to an end. Theresa passed away due to complications from cancer on none other than Halloween day. Simply put, she loved everyone and everything. The more sparkly, the better.
Her work life was spent at Chapel Forge Elementary School where she was convinced
that all of the small people benefited from her own particular nonsense. Theresa had a passion for rocks and minerals and had even created a small business to share them. She was also interested in photography and her three parrots.
Theresa Henderson Massey entered the Massey family upon being wed to Gus on January 30th, 1981. Coming from a large family herself, Theresa fit in seamlessly with the Masseys. She quickly learned how they operated and brought her own unique magic to the family. Her kind heart and caring soul allowed her to help however and wherever she could. She introduced the art of a hug to the family. It didn’t matter the number you were on the Massey 13, or who any of the nieces or nephews were, Theresa was able to establish a special relationship with everyone in the family and her love was always visible. You could feel the love coming from her whenever she would hug you. Tight yet gentle, she’d hold you in her arms until she knew you were okay. Every family needs that magical person who brings whimsy and light to the family …. That was Theresa!
She was preceded in death by her parents Anna and David Henderson and her siblings
David and Ellen. Theresa is survived by her loving husband, Gus Massey, and her
children Matthew and Katherine. Additionally, her siblings Joan, Guy, Amelia, Les and
Susan. Theresa was a special sister, sister-in-law, aunt, great aunt, cousin and friend.
There will be a small outdoor service to honor her life on Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at 11 am at Bestgate Memorial Park, 814 Bestgate Road, Annapolis, MD 21401. Anyone is welcome to attend, however, the service will not be streamed. For those of you from afar, please consider a nice walk in nature to admire the pretty leaves and find some fun rocks. She'd enjoy that very much.
Thank you for all of the love and support everyone has given. In lieu of flowers, donations in Theresa Massey’s name maybe given to Hospice of the Chesapeake (hospicechesapeake.org) for their loving care of Theresa.
