Thelma Buco Andres, age 74, passed away peacefully on the morning of Saturday, March 21, 2026.
She was born on July 7, 1951, in Batangas, Philippines, to Federico and Sancha Buco, the youngest of four children. She later migrated to the United States in 1980 and dedicated her life to a career in nursing. Thelma served with compassion and excellence as a registered nurse for more than 30 years at Anne Arundel Medical Center, where she specialized in oncology. In recognition of her outstanding service and dedication to patient care, she received numerous professional awards, and a section of the hospital was named in her honor, known as “Thelma’s Way.”
In 1981, Thelma married her college sweetheart, Cresencio Andres, and they shared 40 loving years of marriage until his passing in 2021. Though they were not blessed with children of their own, Thelma and Cresencio were deeply devoted to their extended family, offering constant love, guidance, and support.
Thelma was an active member of her community. She enjoyed bowling with friends in Anne Arundel and was a proud supporter of various Filipino organizations and cultural events in the area. She loved traveling, exploring beautiful places, and spending meaningful time with her nieces and nephews in the Philippines.
She is lovingly remembered and will be deeply missed by her sister Carmen Sotto, brother-in-law Art Sotto, her sisters-in-law, as well as her many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. She also leaves behind her cherished Saturday Group family especially Josh and Sarah, whom she loved as her own grandchildren.
