Thelbert "Bert" Pratt's Obituary
Thelbert Clarissa Pratt, affectionately known as "Bert," was born on May 27, 1960, in Washington DC, to the late Marie and William Pratt.
On July 10, 2026, after a lengthy illness, Bert peacefully departed this life to be with her Lord and Savior. She was raised and educated in Harwood, Maryland, and graduated from Southern Senior High School.
Bert dedicated her life to caring for others. She had a special love for the elderly and devoted herself to caring for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and everyone who crossed her path. She was a gentle soul with a warm heart and an open door, always ready to offer love, comfort, and support.
For more than twenty years, Bert served as the Director of Activities at Saint Elizabeth's Assisted Living Facility in Baltimore, Maryland. She later continued her career at Heritage Harbour Assisted Living in Annapolis, Maryland. Eventually, she made the selfless decision to leave her career to become the full-time caregiver for her beloved son, Thomas "Brian" Thompson, until he was called home to be with the Lord.
Bert found joy in spending time with family and treasured every gathering. She loved taking photographs to capture precious memories, cooking (and everyone knew she could really cook!), completing jigsaw puzzles, traveling to various states with her bonus sister, playing Bid Whist, dancing, and cheering on her favorite football team, the Pittsburgh Steelers. She was a proud and loyal Steelers fan.
At an early age, Bert accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and became a faithful member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Lothian, Maryland.
Bert leaves to cherish her precious memories the love of her life, Kevin Harried ("Coolie"); her four sons, Ryan Thompson, Brandon Thompson (Tennelia), Kavonta Harried (Jenn), and Kedgrick Harried; her twelve beloved grandchildren, Rashaad Thompson (Emily), Anthony Thompson, Brandon Thompson Jr., Jazmine Thompson, Bralen Thompson, Coby Thompson, Trey Thompson, Trent Thompson, Ka'mauri Harried, Mason Harried, Kaliyah Harried, and Kai Harried; and her two great-grandchildren, Rashaad Thompson Jr. and Inara Batts.
She is also survived by her six sisters, Marie Matthews (Calvin), Samantha Nick, Mildred Clavery (Roderick), Violetta Colter (John), Kathleen Habershon (Roger), and Janie Godbolt (Mikel); one brother, William Pratt (Toni); and two bonus siblings, Laurrita "Rita" Spriggs and Oswald Spriggs.
She also leaves behind her four cherished godchildren, Tra'vell Spriggs, Brysin Habershon ("Chucky"), Khamari Barnes, and Akila Brown; her devoted friends, Joyce Condra, Shirley Stepney, Michelle Barnes, John Pickett, Marshall Nick, Billie Smith, Yvonne Williams and Eric Parker; her devoted niece, Jean Gross, whom she loved as a daughter that supported her at her appointments, good days bad days and cared for her during her illness; and Sherrika Spriggs, who lovingly called her "Mama Bert" and whom Bert proudly claimed as her bonus daughter. She also leaves a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.
A devoted cousin, Angela Hall ("Beany"), who frequently flew home to visit and support Bert during her illness after relocating.
Bert was preceded in death by her loving parents, Marie and William Pratt; her beloved son, Thomas "Brian" Thompson Jr.; her sister, Barbara Miles; and her granddaughter Khalani Harried
The family extends heartfelt appreciation to Clifford Thompson and Gregory Gibson for their unwavering love, compassion, and care throughout Bert's illness. A special thank you is also extended to Monique Brown from The Hospice of the Chesapeake for her exceptional professionalism, kindness, and compassionate care during Bert's final journey.
Bert's love, kindness, laughter, and unwavering devotion to her family will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Though she will be deeply missed, we rejoice in knowing that she is now at peace in her heavenly home.
