Tangacylia Renee Franklin's Obituary
Tangacylia Renee Franklin was born on September 27, 1972 in Baltimore, Maryland to Patricia Franklin and the late Tyrone Franklin. She departed this life on July 14, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, creativity, and dedication to her family and friends. She was 51 years old.
"Nay," "Nae," or "Mommy," as she was fondly known, received her education in the Anne Arundel County Public School system and graduated, in the Class of 1990, from Annapolis High School in Annapolis, MD. She enjoyed a fulfilling career with MAIF in Annapolis, Maryland and Luminis Health Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, Maryland.
Renee accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age under the guidance of Fredericka Herbert at Hope United Methodist Church in Edgewater, Maryland and later joined Mt. Olive United Methodist Church in Annapolis, Maryland.
Renee was a woman of many passions. She loved traveling, creating arts and crafts, baking tasty treats, attending concerts, and singing her favorite Christmas song, "Gee Whiz, It's Christmas". Her most cherished moments were watching her son play football, where she served as the team mom and spending quality time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed keeping everyone straight.
She was preceded in death by her father, Tyrone Franklin; grandparents Alice Hall, Compton Franklin, and Herman and Elizabeth Medley; her sister, Tymeka Lewis; and godfather, Thomas Wills.
Renee's life was a testament to love, dedication, and the importance of family. Her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Those Renee left behind to cherish her fond memories are: her son, Chase Lewis; mother, Patricia Franklin; brothers, Tyrone Franklin and Tyron "Bubba" Franklin; honorary father, Ralph Tongue; honorary brothers, Marcus Tongue, Quintin Tongue, and Joshua Tongue; adopted grandmother, Gladys Randall; godmother, Sis. Linda Edmonds; godsister, Keysha Contee-Rivera; godson, Corey Brooks; nine aunts; three uncles; three honorary aunts; two honorary uncles; and a host of cousins, extended family, and friends. Renee also shared a special bond with her devoted friends Kim Carpenter, Tia Gray, Stephanie Yates, Teresa Green, Deborah Pratt, and lifelong friend Charles "Reds" Ford. She will also be missed by her beloved pet, Butta, who brought her immense joy and companionship.
