Debbie, I am so sorry for your loss. Stew was an amazing person who touched many lives. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
What a beautifully written story of your Dad’s life. I worked with him at MDE for many years and although I left nearly ten years ago, we would see each other occasionally at workshops and such. My two kids are a few years older than you and your younger sibling and your dad and I often talked kid things. My older one also went to SMCM and I think the two of you have similar opinions about a lot of stuff. I am sorry to have missed his service but know that I will think of him often.
Please accept my condolences for this tragic loss. Stew was a great guy and he will be missed.
Debbie & Stew, you both were so close to each other whenever we saw Debbie at MDE, like two peas in a pod! I have so many fond memories of Stew when he and I would discuss so many things either in my office or his mostly after hours as that would be the time when Ken, Dave, Stew, Visty, and other stragglers would start to leave for home in the evening. Stew and I shared stories about workouts in martial arts that week and compared notes. He went on with higher belts & dens and was very active with taekwondo, judo, etc. He was always so proud of his children and we would compare notes about his and my kids growing up so fast and now being on their own. We both also shared our passion for baseball and were always there at the Orioles Games each summer with the MDE group.
You will be missed Stew but the fond memories we all hold of your kind, cheerful, and joyful self will always be held in our hearts!
Bidding you farewell, my dear friend,
From another rock hound,
Visty Dalal
Each day Stew gave his work family a reason to smile - a funny Dilbert cartoon; a happy “good morning!”; a bright and colorful Hawaiian shirt. Stew cared. He cared about his coworkers. He cared about the environment. He cared about his customers, the citizens of Maryland. He never said no and was always patient and respsectful. Stew's contributions to Maryland’s stormwater program are notable. We will all miss his warmth and the sunny disposition he brought to everything he did.
I am so sorry to hear of Stew's passing. I saw him occasionally at conferences and business meetings and he was both technically on top of things and an entertaining speaker. And once the business-related issues were done he was a great companion and friend. I will miss him.
