Sidney Stanley's Obituary
Sidney S. Stanley, son of the late Frank Johnson and Ruth Stanley, born on December 1, 1945 in Baltimore, MD, passed away on May 6, 2015. He was known to many as “Sidney Sylvester”.
Sidney received his education from South Baltimore High School, and went on to pursue a career at the Baltimore City Housing Authority as a maintenance technician for 30 years. After retiring, he went on to become an Engineer Supervisor for the University of Maryland.
He married Bernice Beatrice Stanley and out of this union of seventeen years, they were blessed with four children: Sidney Jr. (Felicia), Cynthia (Van Bern), Janice (deceased), and Steven.
He was an active member of St. Veronica Catholic Church of Baltimore, MD, in service as an altar boy. His hobbies were bowling, swimming, and card playing (pinochle). His greatest fondness was feeding children, encouraging them to make greater grades in school, and teaching them of self-worth.
He leaves to cherish his memory two sisters, Reva Rebecca Johnson and Rene Olivia Hill; brother, Cho Holland; five grandchildren: Jamel, Janice, Tiara, Barbara, Stephon; six great-grandchildren, one deceased; and a host of step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A visitation will be held at Created for So Much More Worship Center, 701 Cherry Hill Rd. Baltimore, MD 21225 on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 from 10-11 am followed by the service beginning at 11 am. Burial will take place immediately after the service at Cedar Hill Cemetery 5829 Ritchie Highway Brooklyn Park, MD 21225.
