Shiela Rene Bostelman's Obituary
In Loving Memory of Shiela Rene Bostelman
Shiela Rene Bostelman, 65, of Annapolis, MD, passed away on July 4, 2025. Born November 19, 1959, in Napoleon, Ohio, to Vernon and Annabelle Bostelman, Shiela lived a very fulfilling life. Growing up in Damascus, MD, her adventurous spirit was born and lived in her throughout her life.
After high school, Shiela graduated from Montgomery College and the University of Maryland and became a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in 2000. With an incredibly strong work ethic, Shiela was a dedicated health professional. She was devoted to helping children and their families at a compassionate and caring level only few possess. She worked in several pediatric areas (cardiology, transplant, and pulmonary hypertension) at Children’s National Hospital in Washington, DC, and served as her patients’ advocate every day. Those who knew her in work knew her kindness, sense of humor, passion, and tireless effort. Shiela just made the normal work day a better day.
Shiela loved living in Annapolis and took part in many traditions and events, including several local marathons, triathlons, and other runs and races. At the age of 40, Shiela completed the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, DC. She loved the Anne Arundel County Park and Quiet Waters Park where she biked, kayaked, walked, or ran their paths, often bringing her beloved Golden Retrievers, first Bella then Lucy, with her. She was a devoted OSU football fan, often wearing team shirts, hats, socks, anything red in support of THE Ohio State University team.
Shiela took part in many volunteer efforts both in support of animals and children. In 2019, she participated in a mission trip to the Dominican Republic to help sick children.
Shiela is survived by her mother, Annabelle Bostelman of Sarasota, FL; sister, Ronda (Rodney) Duvall of Bradenton, FL; brother, Roger (Brenda) Bostelman of Troutman, NC; nieces and nephews Rebecca (Dan) Nemeth; Aaron (Jessica) Duvall; Ryan (Bailey) Bostelman; and Haley (Jeremy) Walter; and God-daughter, Katie Thompson, all of whom she loved beyond words. She also leaves behind her beloved dog, Lucy Mae, her guardian angel for all of her days, and so many very close friends. If you were so blessed to have Shiela as a friend, your life was brighter and filled with joy. Shiela was preceded in death by her father Vernon Bostelman (2024), and a sister Cheryl Lynn Bostelman (1958).
The world became a little quieter and less vibrant with Shiela’s passing, but heaven gained a beautiful and bright angel on that day. Shiela is certainly sharing many laughs, amazing stories, singing, and perhaps stirring up some mischief, all of which was seen as the fireworks lit the sky on that day.
In abiding with Shiela’s wishes, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later time.
