Sheila Hall's Obituary
Sheila Ann Morgan Hall, 79, lost her six month battle with Cancer on Jun 4, 2015 at Genesis Eldercare located in Severna Park, MD. She was born in Annapolis, MD on Feb 16, 1936, the youngest child of the late Roy Porter Morgan and the late Martha Bertha Simon Morgan. She was a resident of Annapolis, MD for most of her life.
Sheila attended and graduated from St. Mary's Grammar and High School in Annapolis and graduated in Jun1954. During her time in high school, she played center forward on the girls basketball team. After leaving High School, she started working at Nationwide Insurance. She took a leave of absence from work when her children were born. She returned to work (Addington's Grocery Store) after her third child. She ended her working career at the United States Naval Academy. In the 1970's, she was a board member of the Admiral Heights Community Association.
In Nov 2004, 2 years after suffering a stroke, Sheila moved into Genesis Eldercare. During her 11 years at the home, she was an active member of the Resident Council and even served as President of the Resident Council.
She was an avid Oriole fan. She even created an Orioleopoly game for her eldest son. Prior to her stroke, Ms. Hall enjoyed parties and events with her classmates, friends and family. She was also known to be a little bit of a “prankster”. Sheila, who was tone deaf, loved to threaten her family and friends that she would sing if she did not get her way. It paid off, as her “singing” earned her vacations to places such as Florida, New Orleans, and Hawaii. Up until a week before her death, she could be found with 1 to 2 open books that she was reading.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her two elder siblings, Martha Garnet North and Roy Porter Morgan Jr. She leaves behind 3 children; Jerry and Sandra Robertson (San Antonio, Texas); Martha (Marcy) and Edward Weibe (Pasadena, MD), and Roy and Michelle Robertson (Jacksonville, FL). In addition, she is survived by 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She will be truly missed by her family, friends, classmates, and the personnel and residents of Genesis Eldercare.
A memorial service will be held at St. John Neumann Roman Catholic Church at 620 Bestgate Road, Annapolis, MD on Saturday, Aug 29, 2015 at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cancer Research Institute at www.cancerrearch.org or Catholic Charities at www.catholiccharities-md.org.
