Sara Elizabeth Knupp's Obituary
Sara Elizabeth Knupp died on August 1, 2011 at Anne Arundel Medical Center, Annapolis, MD. She was 86.
Mrs. Knupp was born on December 21, 1924 in Seward, PA to the late Benjamin N. and Laura I. (Trindle) Dorney. She graduated in the class of 1944 from Johnstown High School. After graduation she worked in New York City, where she met and married her first husband, Richard Lee Bowers. She married the late Wayne Harold Knupp in 1956. During her children’s formative years, she was actively involved in the United Presbyterian Church, New Florence PA, as a Sunday school teacher. Sara was also employed at the Roadway Pharmacy in Seward, before retiring in the late 1990’s.
Mrs. Knupp was an avid lover of crossword puzzles, bird-watching, cooking, reading and big band music. Her greatest devotion was to her family, first caring for her parents in their declining years, later her sister, and finally helping care for her beloved granddaughters, Nikki and Maddie.
Mrs. Knupp is survived by her children, Richard Cort Bowers and wife, Laurie of Seward, PA, Linda Malinowski of Arnold, MD and Jeffrey Knupp and wife, Gay Lou of New Florence, PA; her grandchildren, Sara and Colin Knupp, Nicole and Madison Malinowski, and Joshua. In addition to her husbands, Richard Lee Bowers and Wayne Harold Knupp, she was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Richard and James; sisters Beatrice, Helen and Jean; and son in law, Paul F. Malinowski.
