Royal Lee Sweeney Jr. "Sonny"'s Obituary
Royal Lee Sweeney, Jr. "Sonny" 84, of Annapolis MD passed away peacefully at his home on May 17, 2023.
Sonny was born to Royal Lee Sr. and Kathryn Alton Sweeney on June 25, 1938. He was the brother of the late Lily, Ellen and Howard.
Sonny is survived by his son, William (Elaine) Allen, grandchildren Brian (Jale), and Ben; daughter, Debbie (Bobby) Moccia, grandchildren, Robert Jr., David, and Erin; and daughter, Sherri (Mark) Baton, grandchildren Zach and Evan; five great grandchildren; siblings, Barbara, Harriet and Tommy; several beloved nieces, nephews and in-laws as well as his fur grand babies.
Sonny is preceded in death by his long time love and wife of 53 years, Frances V. Sweeney “The Coach “.
Sonny was well known for his work ethic, delivering milk for Green Spring and Embassy Dairies and later transporting mail for JR Ritter until his retirement in 2014. He was very proud of his career and received many safety awards.
Sonny enjoyed family vacations to Ocean City, MD and the Tennessee Mountains. He was everyone’s favorite Uncle and will always be remembered for the stories he was asked to tell again and again, his love of family, quick humor and knowledge of pretty much everything.
There will be a celebration of life at a later date.
