Rosa Margarita Whittaker's Obituary
Rosa “Maggie” Whittaker, 64, lost her battle with cancer on July 20, 2021 at her home in Arnold, Maryland. She was born to parents Rosa and Augustín Navarro on May 21, 1957 in Valparaiso, Chile.
After earning a degree in English Language and Literature from the Catholic University of Valparaiso in 1985, she began working as an interpreter for foreign visitors during which she met her future husband of 36 years, Michael, who was on tour with the United States Navy. After a year of courtship they were wed and relocated to the U.S., residing in several states until finally settling in Arnold, Maryland.
Their union resulted in two children, Katherine and David, to whom she devoted her life as a full-time mother from 1988 to 1999 before returning to the workforce to pursue her career as a language professor. For the next 22 years she served the community teaching both English and Spanish to students ranging from Grade 6 through collegiate-level study.
She is survived by her husband, Michael, her son David and wife Angela Whittaker, her daughter Katherine and husband Andrew Peters, and her grandchildren Sarah and Hannah Peters, all of whom both love and will miss her dearly.
A public viewing and service will be held on Sunday, July 25 at 4:00 PM to honor her memory.
