Ronald Wayne Talbert's Obituary
Ronald Wayne Talbert, age 78, died unexpectedly on October 5, 2022 in Lothian, MD.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Denise Talbert; his daughters Erin Daly (Jeff) and Cailin Talbert; and his 6 grandchildren Tim, Anthony, Thea, Nick, Ben, and Aurelia. He is preceded in death by his parents Darnel and Dora Talbert, of Camp Springs, MD; and his brothers Don, Robert, and Bill.
Ron was born on November 9,, 1943, in Riverdale, MD and was a Maryland boy born and bred. He graduated from the University of Maryland in College Park with a B.A. and MBA in Business. Shortly thereafter Ron accepted a position as a Systems Architect at Univac, where he worked for over 40 years and through 3 business mergers. Ron also worked part time for Talbert Instruments, his father’s machine shop, producing pie gauges. He took over the business following his father’s death and only recently closed it down in 2020.
Ron enjoyed working with his hands and was comfortable with most any kind of work. He deeply loved his family, taking care of his aunt, cousin, and father as they aged. He worked side-by-side with his father at their home in Whitestone, VA, building an addition from the ground up, and even learned how to lay bricks just so Denise could have her patio in the back yard in Bowie. Ron loved the Bay and enjoyed spending time on the water, boating, fishing, and crabbing with his children and grandchildren at the family home in Kilmarnock, VA. He particularly enjoyed taking friends and family tubing or water skiing, and no outing was complete until the rider reluctantly found themself tumbling across the water.
Please join us for a celebration of Ron’s life at Mama Lucia Restaurant in Dunkirk, MD on November 19, 2022, 12:00pm-3:00pm. All are welcome to attend.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the ALS Association
