Ronald "Ron" Frankovich's Obituary
Ronald Francis “Ron” Frankovich of Annapolis, Maryland, 91, passed away on November 15, 2025, from complications from some recent medical set-backs. He is survived by his wife of 63 years Mary Margaret “Marge” (Dugan) Frankovich, son Steven Frankovich and grandsons Ethan Frankovich and Alexander Crofcheck, all of the Annapolis area, and by brother Gerald (Betty) Frankovich of Allison Park, PA, as well as many nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces. He was preceded in death by daughter Jill Crofcheck, parents Anna F. (Brindza) and Mark G. Frankovich, brothers William M. (Blanche), Mark W. (Daisy) and Richard J. (Jenny).
Ron grew up in the Lawrenceville section of Pittsburgh, PA, and graduated from St. Kieran Grade School, where he served as an altar boy, and Central Catholic High School. As a youth, he was a very versatile athlete, excelling in football, softball, golf and rubber-band duck pin bowling. After high school, Ron worked locally for a couple of years before enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps. After his discharge, he met Marge, the love of his life. He worked in the airlines industry as they raised their children Jill and Steven. Ron’s final work “posting” was as a Host within Eastern Airline’s Ionesphere (Travelers) Club, where he utilized his affable personality and keen sense-of-humor to welcome and put at ease all who entered, be they “rich and famous” or a harried pharmaceutical salesman from the Midwest.
After retirement, Ron and Marge relocated to the Eastport community in Annapolis, where they developed deep and sincere friendships with other residents. Though living in Maryland, Ron maintained his loyal support of Pittsburgh’s professional sports teams, the Steelers, the Penguins and the Pirates.
A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 am on November 29, 2025 at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 620 N. Bestgate Rd. Annapolis, MD 21401. Services will be livestreamed through the church website. Burial will be scheduled at a future date at Crownsville Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers or other presentations, a Mass in remembrance of Ron would be appreciated.
